Intensive care units (ICUs) are the place where healthcare workers’ hand hygiene is exceptionally critical. Patients in ICUs are severely ill and, thus, need to contact healthcare professionals more frequently [7]; furthermore, patients’ supposedly immunecompromised states mean that a simple infection can lead to death. It is understandable that many hand hygiene studies have focused particularly on the ICU settings [8-13].
